At Lone Star Carpet we insist on the best quality and give you the best possible service. That's why we offer only the finest carpets.

How to buy Carpet:

  1. What kind of traffic will the room experience? Pets? Outside entrance? Frequent traffic? All these will determine the type of carpet you should buy.
  2. To determine the quantity of carpet you need, multiply the length by the width of the room in feet and divide by 9 to obtain the square yardage needed. Add 10 percent for irregularities in room size. (If you like, Lone Star Carpet personnel will come to your home and measure for you taking into account closets, hallways and rooms wider than 12 feet - most carpet comes in rolls 12 feet wide).
  3. Ask yourself how long you expect to keep your carpet before replacing it. A better grade of carpet will give you a greater length of service than one of lesser quality. Buy the best carpet you can afford for the heavy traffic areas and a good medium grade for the rooms with less traffic. Keep in mind, the real carpet price includes carpet, pad, installation and the cost of regular maintenance.

Carpet Types - It's Smarter to be Dense!

Carpet pile is the yarn on the face of the carpet. A firm, dense pile marks a quality carpet. To check a carpet's density, bend a corner of the carpet and see how much backing shows. The more backing the less dense and durable your carpet.

LOOP - Loop carpets are marked by a continuous uncut surface that resists crushing and matting. Loop carpets are the most appropriate for commercial applications, however Berbers are popular in homes.

CUT - The loops of a cut pile are cut to expose the yarn ends. They come in a variety of styles including: Velvet Plush, a rich luxurious surface perfect for less traveled rooms like a formal dining room or living room as it will show footprints; Saxony, great for a less formal room like a den but will show footprints; Textured Saxony, tough enough for any room and its sculpted design will hide dirt and footprints; and Frieze, a smart choice for any high traffic area, it hides dirt and footprints exceptionally well.

CUT & LOOP - Cut and loop carpets combine these two piles usually in a sculpted patter and are good in casual settings.

Fibers

The fiber used will determine your carpet's wear ability.

NYLON - Typically the strongest and most durable fiber, it holds its color well and resists most food and beverage stains.

ACRYLIC - Looks and feels like wool, this fiber is usually used in Berber styles, is naturally stain resistant and wears well.

OLEFIN - Strong resists wear and permanent stains and is easily cleaned. Used in indoor and outdoor installations but also in some Berbers.

POLYESTER - Noted for luxurious feel, and excelled color clarity and retention.

WOOL - An all-natural product that is luxurious to the touch and unmatched in quality and wear ability. Designer’s favorite for its high bulk and ability to soften any room.

Stain Resistance

Stain resistance warranties are determined by the style of the carpet, the fiber and other stain resistant coatings that may be applied. These warranties are based on the carpet's ability to withstand exposure to common foods and beverages. But remember - no carpet type is completely resistant to all stains.

How can you help?

  1. Frequent, thorough vacuuming.
  2. Prompt clean-up of spills.
